Mark Zuckerberg, 31, made two huge announcements on Dec. 1 — both of which were pretty epic and life-changing. First, the Facebook CEO announced the birth of his baby girl,Max. And then, he revealed he’ll be donating 99 percent of his stock in the company in honor of her arrival into the world. So, essentially, he’ll be giving away $45 billion. Mark and wife Priscilla Chan have formed the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which he said will “join people across the world to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation.”
“Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities,” he said in a letter to their daughter. They will donate nearly all of their Facebook stock to the cause.

We know this is a small contribution compared to all the resources and talents of those already working on these issues.
